Manchester restaurants hit the street for Picnic
Manchester restaurants and local food producers will be taking their tasty treats to the public this summer as Manchester Picnic 2012 takes place in the city centre's Piccadilly Gardens space.
Due to take place on August 3rd-5th, this will be the third year that the event has been staged, and gives shoppers and tourists the chance to buy some delicious snacks from street stalls between 11am and 6pm each day.
Last year's Manchester Picnic proved to be a huge success, with an average of about 5,000 people per day descending on Piccadilly Gardens to join in the feast.
A number of Manchester restaurants will be represented, including Greek family-owned eatery Papa G's, who will be serving up slouvaki.
Pat Karney, Manchester City Council's city centre spokesperson, says: "This was one of the most popular events in the city centre last summer and this year's is expected to attract record numbers of attendees."
As with many things to do in Manchester, there will also be a significant musical element to the three-day event, with DJs and live performances, as well as an injection of culture in the form of Manchester Museum's 'museum in a box'.
